From food trucks offering worldly cuisines to homemade pastas, the Portland food scene has plenty to satisfy your taste buds.

“The Portland food scene strives to be hip, local, sustainable, allergy-friendly, and delicious all in one,” said Randi Wilson, quality assurance analyst. “I’ve also never seen a restaurant with a dress code here, so it’s great food absent a certain level of pretension too.”

Here are our Portland office staffers’ favorite inexpensive places to eat.

Justa Pasta

ABOUT:  Justa Pasta opened in Portland in 1998 and prides itself on offering homemade pasta and pairing it with seasonal favorites such as wild fish, “draper valley” chicken, cheeses and produce. They also offer a variety of local wines to complement any meal.

CONVENIENCE:  This popular Portland spot is open seven nights a week and is within walking distance of the Williamette River.

PRICE:  Super reasonable. Pasta dishes cost between $6-13.

Uno Mas Taquiza

Created by Oswaldo Bibiano, Portland’s dean of Mexican Cuisine, Uno Mas puts a Portland twist on Mexican favorites. Beyond the usual offerings of carnitas and barbacoa, Uno Mas tacos contain more exotic ingredients, including tripe and beef tongue. For the more adventurous foodie, Uno Mas offers cactus and octopus tacos. It also offers vegan and gluten-free options.

CONVIENENCE:  Lots of seating inside and out, open seven days a week.

PRICE:  Worth every penny! Taco plates run about $10.

Food Trucks

Portland takes food trucks to a whole new level. At least 500 food trucks are ready to serve Portland natives and visitors at any given time. Food trucks roam the city, but more than 60 trucks congregate between Alder and Washington from 9th to 10th Streets. The 9th and Alder food truck pod is the largest concentration of street food in America, and their offerings range from Vietnamese to Mediterranean food.

CONVIENENCE:  These are food trucks. Need we say more?

PRICE:  As cheap as they are convenient, meals run between five and seven dollars.
